Double the size…double the party!
The 5th vintage of the Skin Contact Chenin Blanc is delicious and fun! Yes, it has the bright and textural flavors you know and love; but this year, it’s slightly oxidized which elevates the wine even further. Intentional? Sure. Yeah. Winemaking is a natural process and I have little control of the final result. I gently coax the grapes to release their greatest flavors into the final wine produced. And I am very proud of the latest vintage. It’s truly a badass wine with a great attitude.
OK, you want the geeky details? The wine was fermented on the skins for 36 days in neutral oak barrels, with the cap gently punched down by hand and then aged for ten months in the same neutral oak barrels. It was fermented using indigenous yeast, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, which is why it is a bit hazy and cloudy….it’s full of the grape’s natural love. This is an orange wine for red wine lovers. And for those that are worried that it’s a weird natural wine…don’t. There’s minimal SO2 added (30ppm) for stability and drinkability.
